Manchester City’s Samir Nasri Says Chelsea FC Are ‘Not Special At All’

Chelsea FC currently sit atop the Premier League, with a seven-point lead on defending Champions Manchester City. They are also in the finals of the Capital One Cup and quite alive in the Champions League, but City’s Samir Nasri doesn’t seem to be the least bit impressed.

The French midfielder has launched a surprising tirade at the Blues, claiming that they are “not special at all.”

Nasri was part of the Manchester City team which won the Premier League title last season, and he believes that his club can still win it again, despite trailing by seven points.

Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho recently called for City to be penalized for breaking FFP rules. He believes — pretends to believe — that they should not be allowed to lift the title after having infringed on the financial laws of the game.

Manuel Pellegrini — the City boss — has refused to give into Mourinho’s taunting, but it would seem that one of his players has lashed out in his stead.

"“I’m a big fan of Mourinho, but I am not impressed with his team, not at all. When I have seen some of their games, I don’t think they are that fantastic – they are just strong, and have a good striker up front.”“For me they are not special at all, and I think they are going to make some mistakes. We have played them twice, one time with 10 men, and we were better than them. Then we played them at Stamford Bridge, and we were better than them”-Samir NasriSource: Telegraph"

The Frenchman is certainly correct about bettering the Blues on their home turf, but I’m not so sure about that ‘not special’ part.

Jose Mourinho’s men have been playing the best football in the league — and that is quite obvious. When they don’t play well, they still manage to win most of the time, and that has set them apart from City — who drop points almost every time they have a bad performance.

The Blues do possess a battering ram up front in Diego Costa, but they are far cry from being considered a “long ball” or direct team (anymore). There may not be a four-paged dossier to prove it, but I assure you they aren’t.

With 13 games to go, the Premier League Trophy is still up for grabs. A lot could change between now and May, but there are 19 other teams who would trade places with Chelsea without a moment’s hesitation.

The Blues have led the pack from the beginning, and they are in the best position to win it all this season. If they win all their games, there’s nothing City — or any other team — can do to stop them from snatching the title.

Not that I expect Chelsea to win 13 games in a row; points will be dropped, but City will be guilty of that as well.

"“The season is still long, they have the Champions League and the final of the Capital One Cup as well, so have a lot of games to play.”“They won in the last minute against Everton, so maybe next time they will draw. Two months ago we were eight points behind Chelsea and came back and went level with them. Now we are seven points behind, but are not going to make big talk about it. We will just try to get as many points as possible and wait for the mistake.“If we reach 90 points we will be champions of England. If we win all of our games, it will put pressure on Chelsea.”"

It doesn’t look like the Blues will be running away with the title, Pellegrini’s men have managed to stay close by, and they will keep the pressure up till the end.

With Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony set to return to action in Manchester pretty soon, things will probably get interesting, but I highly doubt that Nasri’s presence — or lack thereof — will have much of an impact on the way things play out.
