Liverpool: Our Best Is Yet To Come, Says Brendan Rodgers
By Lou Flavius
Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers believes that his club haven’t yet showed their mettle this season. He insists that they can still challenge for silverware, and will have something to show at the end.

The Reds got off to an awful start to their Premier League campaign, and did not fare much better in the Champions League. After losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona last summer, things took a downhill slant.
Rodgers bought a host of new players — including Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert — but they just did not look the side which ran rampant in the league last season.

Mario Balotelli has been a disaster, while Rickie Lambert has failed to replicate his Southampton form. To add to their misery, former Manchester City and Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge — who had a phenomenal season alongside Suarez — could not remain healthy.
Sturridge has finally made a comeback after a lengthy layoff. The forward spent time in the United States undergoing treatment, but he has returned at just the right moment. Liverpool seem to be making a push for top four, and the Englishman’s contributions will be well received.
Last Tuesday, Rodgers and his men came out on the losing end of a hard-fought two-legged Capital One Cup semifinal battle against Chelsea. The loss must have been disheartening, as they really gave their all, but they are still alive in the FA Cup — although they have to get past a replay vs Bolton.
Rodgers claims that although they would have loved to go to the final, the loss only served as motivation for his side.
"“After the Chelsea game there was a feeling ‘would it disrupt or provoke a negative reaction to our season?’ if anything it’s only promoted the development and momentum that we have.”“Of course we wanted to get to the final but the performance level from the two games and leading into those games has given us great encouragement. Our best football is yet to come, we had a real difficult start to the season when other teams had full squads and playing really well.”-Brendan RodgersSource: Espnfc"
Sturridge’s return will surely strengthen the squad, he already got off the mark with a goal against West Ham last Saturday. His presence vs the Wanderers today will make a huge difference, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he put his former loan club to the sword.
With this being Steven Gerrard’s last season at Anfield, he does deserve a special sendoff. Silverware at the end of the season would be the best way. With Chelsea and Manchester already out of the FA Cup, the competition provides the Reds with the best chance to win something.
"“There’s still good teams in it but that only counts if you get through yourself. The Bolton game is a tough one. You get through each game and it optimises your chance of getting to the final.”“I repeat, we are in two cup competitions and we want to go as far as we possibly can in them. That will be reflected in our teams, our drive and our desire to get through in the competition.”-Brendan Rodgers"
If Liverpool can escape the magic of the FA Cup today, they will have more chances to prove that they can return to their best.
