In the early hours of Wednesday morning BST, the final games of the international break took place, with a handful of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers taking place, that include a number of Premier League players in action. Let’s see how those said players got on.

Premier League international watch: South American round up

To begin with, Colombia were in action at home to Chile, as they looked to bounce back from their defeat to Bolivia in ridiculously high altitude last week. Jefferson Lerma and Luis Diaz were in the starting XI, as they indeed bounced back, in style, as they smashed La Roja with an emphatic 4-0 victory.

Diaz grabbed a goal, continuing his early season form, whilst Jhon Duran continued his habit of scoring off the bench, with a goal here having come on at half-time. Luis Sinisterra grabbed a goal and assist in just fourteen minutes of action off the bench, with his assist being for Duran’s goal.

Elsewhere, Miguel Almiron and Julio Enciso both  started for Paraguay at home to Venezuela, who had earned a credible point against Argentina last time out. Enciso had a penalty saved four minutes before half-time, though it mattered little as they came from behind to win 2-1.

Meanwhile, Santiago Bueno, Manuel Ugarte, and Darwin Nunez all started for Uruguay in their 0-0 draw at home to Ecuador, with Moises Caicedo and Pervis Estupinan starting for the visitors.

Cristian Romero was back from his one game international suspension to start for Argentina, as they smashed Bolivia 6-0. Alexis Mac Allister was back from the knock that kept him out of the Venezuela game, playing with Enzo Fernandez in the midfield.

In the very last game of the break, Brazil hosted Peru – at around 01:45 BST. For this game, Ederson, Gabriel Magalhaes, Bruno Guimares, and Savio were all in Dorival’s starting eleven.

It would be an emphatic and much needed victory for Brazil, running out 4-0 winners. Andreas Pereira grabbed a goal off the bench, whilst Andre came on as a late sub.
