On Saturday afternoon, West Ham United welcomed an Ipswich Town side to the London stadium that had not lost in any of their previous four Premier League outings, including an impressive point that deserved even more against Aston Villa last weekend, three days before Unai Emery's side went on to beat Bayern Munich.
West Ham United get back to winning ways against Ipswich Town
It was to be the dream start for Julen Lopetegui's side, with Michail Antonio finding the net within the first minute of the game, for his first goal of the 24/25 season. However, just five minutes later, Liam Delap scored his fourth goal of the season and third in two games to level the game up.
West Ham would be back ahead before half time, however - even if only just. After 43 minutes, Mohammed Kudus headed home from point blank range to ensure the Hammers would go into the break 2-1 up.
It would only take four second half minutes for West Ham to extend their lead, as Jarrod Bowen scored for the first time since August with a finish into the bottom corner to give his side a 3-1 lead
Ipswich huffed and puffed as they tried to get back into the game, and it was not for the want of trying. However, after 69 minutes, Lucas Paqueta put some gloss on the win as he also scored from point blank range to make it 4-1, and secure a huge three points for West Ham to ease the pressure on the under fire Lopetegui.
This win takes West Ham up to 12th in the Premier League table, with 8 points from 7 games heading into the October break.
As for Ipswich, this defeats leaves them in 17th place, with their head just above water. Kieran McKenna's side have four points from seven games, one point above Crystal Palace in 18th place. Still not an awful position to be in as a newly promoted side.
