The very last games of the international break took place in the late hours of Tuesday Night and early hours of Wednesday Morning BST, as the second round of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers over this break took place. For a debrief of how the first round played out, you can have a look here.

Premier League round up: South America

To get the ball rolling, Colombia pulled off an impressive 2-1 win over Argentina in a rematch of the Copa America final. Daniel Munoz, Yerson Mosquera, who scored, and went off injured, Jefferson Lerma, Luiz Diaz, and Jhon Duran all started for the hosts.

Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martinez, and Enzo Fernandez all started for Argentina. Alexis Mac Allister was a second half substitute.

After this result, the Copa America final remains the only game that Colombia have lost since February 2022, coincidentally also a defeat to Argentina.

Elsewhere, Ben Brereton Diaz started for Chile in their alarming 2-1 defeat at home to Bolivia, though he was substituted before half time for tactical reasons.

Over in Quito, Pervis Estupinan, captain Moises Caicedo and Chelsea signing for next summer Kendry Paez all started for Ecuador in their 1-0 win at home to Peru.

In a non eventful game, Manuel Ugarte and Santiago Bueno both started for Uruguay in their 0-0 draw against Venezuela, in their first game since national team legend Luis Suarez hung up his international boots. The likes of Darwin Nunez and Rodrigo Bentancur are still serving an international ban.

To finish off the South America round up and the September international break, Miguel Almiron and Julio Enciso both started for Paraguay as they recorded a famous 1-0 victory over Brazil in Asuncion. Alisson, Gabriel Magalhaes, Andre, Bruno Guimaraes, and Lucas Paqueta all started for Brazil. Joao Pedro was introduced at half-time. Estevao, who joins Chelsea next summer, also came off the bench.
