For the third edition of Monday Night Football of the 24/25 Premier League season, Nottingham Forest hosted Crystal Palace.
Palace headed into the game winless, though their singular point on the road was only one fewer than Forest's tally at home. Despite a bright start to the season, weirdly, eight of Forest's ten points had come away from home. They had won at Anfield, yet given Wolves their only point of the season when they hosted them at the end of August.
For this game, Nuno went with a line up of; Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Moreno; Dominguez, Yates; Elanga, Anderson, Hudson-Odoi; Wood.
While Oliver Glasner opted for; Henderson; Munoz, Chalobah, Lacroix, Guehi, Mitchell; Hughes, Lerma; Kamada, Eze; Nketiah.
Match Report: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Crystal Palace
Straight away, Forest looked to dominate the territory, and created numerous chances. After a quarter of an hour, Anderson weaved past two or three Palace players, showing unbelievable close control, before being denied by Henderson.
Just after, Anderson whipped in a fantastic inviting cross towards Wood, but his header went over the bar when well positioned. A few minutes later, Yates would go close from a corner, as Forest continued to be the far better side.
Palace would have a few attempts, but they would generally be potshots from long distance, as they struggled to create anything of note.
With the last attack of the first period, a lovely inswinging ball from Anderson towards Wood ended with the striker once again being denied from close range, this time from a Henderson save. In fairness, he was stretching to get there, so couldn't get optimal direction and technique on the shot.
However, twenty minutes into the second half, he would get his goal. Latching onto a loose ball, he drilled a shot from just over 20 yards into the near post, with a strike Henderson most certainly should have done better with.
In the end, Forest held out comfortably for the win, to record their first win at home this season. As for Palace, they remain winless, with the pressure seriously beginning to heat on Glasner.
This win leaves Forest 8th in the league, with 13 points from eight games. Meanwhile, this defeat keeps Palace in the bottom three, sitting in 18th place with just three points from their eight games so far.
