In the big Premier League game of the weekend, Arsenal welcomed Liverpool to the Emirates, in what promised to be a great game. Despite being an injury doubt, Bukayo Saka was back in the Arsenal team for this game, having missed the defeat at Bournemouth last weekend.
Mikel Arteta went with a line up of; Raya; Partey, White, Gabriel, Timber; Saka, Merino, Rice, Martinelli; Havertz, Trossard.
In the other dugout, Arne Slot elected for; Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
Arsenal 2-2 Liverpool: As it happened
It took just nine minutes for Arsenal to take the lead. Saka kept the ball under pressure from Robertson, before cutting inside and firing the ball past Kelleher and into the back of the net, to give Arteta's side a dream start to the game.
However, it was soon 1-1. A corner from the left was flicked on by Diaz, and there was Van Dijk to head the ball home and make the scores level again, in a very exciting start to the game.

Around 34 minutes in, a superb swinging free-kick delivery found Merino unmarked inside the box, but he could not properly get over the ball, and his strike looked like more of a defensive clearance than an attempt at goal.
Nine minutes later, he would make amends. Another free-kick was whipped in by Rice, and the Spanish midfielder got his head on the ball, to power the ball into the back of the net and retake the lead for the gunners. The two sides went into the break with Arsenal a goal to the good.

Only minutes into the second half, Gabriel went down with an injury. He tried to soldier on, but after a couple of minutes, went down again, and was replaced by Jakub Kiwior.
Their bad luck continued, as with 15 minutes to go, Timber had to be withdrawn, and was replaced by youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly. It all proved too much, and with ten minutes to go - Salah equalised for the visitors, having been found by Nunez.

That was that, and the points were shared. Safe to say, the winners here were Manchester City, who hold onto top spot.
