Manchester United scout 24-year-old talent who almost joined Arsenal
By Kian Long
Manchester United have recently been scouting a 24-year-old sensation who was close to joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United and Arsenal have been taken significantly different routes this season. While the Gunners are flying and one of only two Premier League teams to remain unbeaten, their rivals Man United are dragging behind, in mid-table and don’t look like climbing the table anytime soon.
Although, this could soon change in January, should Erik ten Hag play his cards right. Indeed, he will want to invest in his squad at the beginning of the next calendar year, particularly if they remain in the Champions League.
I compared them to Arsenal, which wasn’t a coincidence. Indeed, Erik ten Hag seems to have the same transfer plan as Mikel Arteta, except the Dutchman will hope that his pursuit of the same player is more successful.
Manchester United scout former Arsenal target Martin Zubimendi
According to a report by FootballTransfers (via 90min), Manchester United have been scouting Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, with a potential January transfer on the cards. In the summer, Arsenal came close to striking a deal with the 24-year-old midfield sensation, however, the deal was not finalised, so Zubimendi remained a Sociedad player.
The report also claims that Zubimendi’s teammate Takefusa Kubo is on the shortlist of Manchester United, so there could even be a double Real Sociedad swoop from Ten Hag if January if both players fit his criteria.
With the news which broke today about Manchester United seeking a replacement for Casemiro, Zubimendi would be the ideal contender. Ageing at just 24 years old and having his future ahead of him, he is a versatile and dynamic midfielder who would be best suited to playing for United.
Do you think Manchester United will sign midfielder Martin Zubimendi?
