Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof seems to have decided his future. Will the colossal defender remain at the club beyond his contract?

In true Manchester United fashion, there are some contract issues which need addressing as a state of emergency. Certainly, there are some players with less than a year remaining on their Old Trafford deals who Erik ten Hag won’t like to lose, particularly on free deals.

Victor Lindelof is one of them. The 29-year-old Swedish midfielder who isn’t exactly a first-team staple but instead a valuable squad player who could do a job when needed, runs out of time on his current deal in the summer of 2024.

However, there is an option for the club to extend his deal by a further year. This is quite a common clause which is inserted into United’s deals, a clause they can afford to negotiate given the pull factor of their club and players.

Speaking out on the option to extend his current deal by a further year, Lindelof has claimed that it is “quite likely” this option will be used. Further, quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Lindelof revealed he loves to represent United, so we will see if he continues at the club but that seems to be the aim.

Lindelof last played for Manchester United for 71 minutes in their most recent match against Brentford. Certainly, he’s been a staple while Lisandro Martinez has been injured.

Meanwhile, has Erik ten Hag dropped a hint about the takeover?
