Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will soon get to work on two in-house deals, but he is yet to decide on Anthony Martial’s future.
Despite the international break interlude, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is still hard at work. In fairness, he needs to be, given the club’s poor start to the season. The objectives of the club are always to qualify for Champions League at least, but right now, the Red Devils aren’t on the right track to do so.
Of course, there’s a fresh opportunity after the international break for United to not only string some results together, but look convincing and be consistent within those performances. Certainly, it’s a long-term project which Erik ten Hag is aiming for at Old Trafford.

One way to ensure the long-term future of the club is to keep the current players happy. According to a report from ESPN, Manchester United plan to extend the contracts of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof, since they have a clause which can be triggered for a further year. However, the club is still pondering the future of Anthony Martial.
It’s good to see that the club is being prudent with Martial’s future. If we boil the situation down the basics, there is no way on earth that Martial should be rewarded with a new contract since he’s done absolutely nothing to deserve it. However, there are obviously other factors to consider, such as financial resources and the options on the market.
Certainly, Manchester United will be in the market for a wide forward in January. Perhaps even a centre forward too, to provide backup for Rasmus Hojlund. If those criteria are met, then it could be finite for Martial.
