Manchester United have decided where the future of Erik ten Hag’s future rests, upon his difficult start to the season given issues out of his control.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag hasn’t had the easiest start to the season. Not only has he faced a difficult run of fixtures which his players haven’t taken advantage of, but he has faced some off-field issues with his players that are out of his control.
Football is a harsh sport, so this could have easily resulted in the termination of his time at Old Trafford. Indeed, it was revealed last week that United were eyeing a “shoo-in” replacement for Erik ten Hag, should the club’s poor run continue.
Manchester United plan a new contract for Dutch manager Erik ten Hag
But thankfully for him and the fans, the club has gone on a positive run of late. They made it to the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup where they will recreate last season’s final against Newcastle United. Furthermore, they are beginning to bag more goals and have some exciting youth prospects coming through.
With all this in mind, Manchester United have made a decision on Erik ten Hag’s future. According to 90min, the board plans to offer a new contract extension to the Dutch manager. His current deal runs until 2025 with an option for a further year, but the board trusts in Ten Hag’s vision so they would like to see him at the club for the long-term future.
In other news, Manchester United are also planning a contract extension for Hannibal Mejbri.
Do you think it’s a good idea for Manchester United to extend Erik ten Hag’s current contract?
