Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 3-0 in the Carabao Cup third round to go through to the Round of 16. Next, they will face Newcastle United.

Manchester United are the defending champions of the Carabao Cup and they began their title defence with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. With goals from Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro, and Anthony Martial, United stormed into the Round of 16 in the Carabao Cup. Erik ten Hag will be pleased with the overall performance of the team. Also, Mason Mount and Raphael Varane made their return from injury in that game along with the full debut of the new signing Sofyan Amrabat. So, after the game, Man Utd fans had to wait for more than 24 hours to know their opponent. Yes, the Round of 16 tie will be a rematch of last year’s final against Newcastle.

Manchester United vs Newcastle in the Carabao Cup Round of 16 2023/24

Manchester United is set to take on Newcastle United in the Round of 16 of the Carabao Cup 2023/24. The Magpies qualified for the Round of 16 in this competition by defeating last year’s treble winner and Man Utd’s city rivals, Manchester City.

Last year when the Magpies came to Old Trafford, they played a 0-0 draw in the Premier League. Now, with the confidence of the win against City, the Magpies will surely look to make a statement by defeating the Red Devils in their own backyard.

On the other hand, Manchester United will be looking forward to the return of some of their key players ahead of next month’s fixture against Newcastle. At home, the Red Devils will always be the favourites to get a win. However, with the resurgence of Newcastle, this game will be a very entertaining one and could go either way.
