Arsenal legend says Kai Havertz is “better” than Manchester United signing

Arsenal’s summer signing Kai Havertz hasn’t hit the ground running. However, a club legend has said he’s “much better” than Manchester United’s signing.

Arsenal have had a good start to the season. They have won their opening Champions League and Carabao Cup matches and fifth in the Premier League table, only bettered on points by Brighton, Liverpool and Manchester City. Despite Mikel Arteta’s fine start to the season, there is criticism coming his way about his summer signing Kai Havertz.

Indeed, the German international hasn’t exactly set the world alight since he signed from Chelsea, but there’s a lot of misconception. He’s not a striker like he was at Chelsea, so of course he isn’t bagging goals. Arsenal haven’t been as electrifying going forwards since Mikel Arteta has focused more on controlling the midfield, which is an area of play where Havertz has been focal.

Former Arsenal midfielder David Hillier, who knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a great midfielder, has spoken about Kai Havertz. Compared to Manchester United signing Mason Mount, Hillier has said the two are in similar boats at the moment but crucially, that Havertz is “much better” than Mount.

Indeed, both players signed for big money from Chelsea. So, of course, they will have a lot of scrutiny surrounding them. But for Havertz to receive the criticism he has while Mount essentially gets away with going missing shows the agenda which the media has against Arsenal.
