Arsenal may have to be quick and efficient in their negotiation for Mikel Arteta’s main target, whose price has risen MASSIVELY.

Arsenal are being linked with a move for Ivan Toney. It’s not a shock to the system to know that Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the English striker, who is currently serving his ban. It’s thought that the Spanish boss will attempt to sign Toney in January, but he will face competition from Chelsea and Spurs.

It has even been claimed that the Gunners would have “almost certainly” attempted to sign him in the summer transfer window had he been available. In this report the asking price for Toney was set at around £60m.

In the most recent transfer report leaked about Ivan Toney, it was then claimed that Brentford would expect nothing less than £75m. To this end, Mikel Arteta had considered parting ways with some of his players as part of a swap deal with Brentford, to soften the financial hit.

Arsenal target Ivan Toney rises to £80m in valuation

Well, he may consider that even more, as the price has risen again. According to a report from The Times, Arsenal are expected to pay around £80m to sign Ivan Toney in January.

Of course, for a striker in the calibre of Ivan Toney, it was never going to be an easy signing. Not only is he a wanted man, but he’s proven in the Premier League. With many sides in the league struggling to score goals, Brentford are in the best position to ask for a lot of cash.

At £80m, I still believe he is worth it. However, understandably, Arsenal are looking at other options to be on the safe side.
