Sheffield. The home of the steel works and two famous football teams. Within that great city, a superb striker was born in 1986 and went on to score over 100 goals for the club in three spells. Now he has taken the plunge and moved away from Yorkshire, where he spent most of his career playing for three different clubs in the county, and is stateside now at the age of 37. It may be nothing more than a swansong, but the one and only Billy Sharp has started life across the pond in a similar fashion to how he played his career!

Sheffield to Hollywood

Players from England have been moving to the USA for one more payday, and ever since David Beckham made the move to LA Galaxy, many other Premier League legends have plied their trade with Galaxy. Beckham was the trendsetter for Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole and Javier Hernandez, but now it is Billy Sharp who wants to help Galaxy win another MLS Cup.

Sharp has been a popular player wherever he has been, not for Blackpool fans, though, and it seems that is the case already in LA, as he has his own chant!

The former Sheffield United man netted 129 times for the Blades during his 377 appearances and will be hoping to still score goals at 37.

How has it started for Billy Sharp?

It came as a shock to many fans that Billy Sharp was now playing for the big hitters LA Galaxy, but they will not be surprised to hear that, at the time of writing,  he has scored two goals in his last two fixtures. That means Sharp has now scored 250 league goals across his career.

With five games under his belt in the MLS, Sharp has scored three times with Chicago Fire, St. Louis City and Los Angeles FC, all succumbing to the former Blade.

The former Doncaster man is proving he can still find the back of the net, and Minnesota United could well be the next victim to another Sharp goal.
