Arsenal have a squad of enthralling young players, all of which are capable of making a claim on the first-team. It’s all well and good the Gunners possess this amount of depth, since the opposite has been their downfall in recent seasons. However, it does leave Mikel Arteta with the nice problem of being forced to bench some excellent players.

Arteta does an excellent job at rotating his players a lot (which, in truth, is helped by the plethora of wacky formations and systems he has up his sleeve). However, there are some players who are more prone to sitting on the bench than others and one of them is Leandro Trossard.

In truth, the Belgian doesn’t seem to mind. After all, when he was signed, I doubt he would’ve been promised to be a starter when you factor in Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka forming the front three. Whenever Trossard is given the opportunity to play, he often performs well, including that last minute equaliser to hand Arsenal the Community Shield against Manchester City.

Leandro Trossard speaks on being dropped at Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta

Speaking out on his tough time breaking into Mikel Arteta’s preferred eleven, Trossard was very respectful. According to Metro, Leandro Trossard was asked whether the Belgium management team have any concerns over his lack of involvement at Arsenal and he reminded the interviewer of the talent which both Arsenal and the Belgium national team possess in his position.

"“A lot of young guys have come along who want to show themselves. That’s good too. There are many good players, such as Bakayoko and Doku. But I see that every week at Arsenal – that’s nothing new.” – Leandro Trossard (via Metro)"
