“Overrated” Manchester United forward wins PFA fans Player of the Year
In the past, Manchester United were known to produce homegrown talents. However, in recent times, United failed to produce such talents that could take the football world by storm. One recent talent that Man Utd fans can be proud of is Marcus Rashford. Last season, Rashford came back to form and United fans found the “Rashy” that they wanted to see for a long time. His hard work paid off and he not only won a trophy for his club last season after six years but also won the PFA Fans Player of the Year award.
How Erik teen Hag Turned Rashford’s Future at Manchester United
Marcus Rashford was on the verge of leaving Manchester United before Erik ten Hag arrived. However, once the boss joined Carrington, he convinced Rashford that he was the main man in this team and he trusted Marcus to score goals for him. It is still unknown what Ten Hag did with Rashford but he looked like a beast scoring 30 goals in 56 games along with 11 assists. Rashford once again became happy at United and his performance reflected that. So, he signed a new contract and he will now be a Man Utd player until 2028.
Is Marcus Rashford Overrated by Manchester United Fans?
One of the biggest advantages and disadvantages of being a Manchester United player is that the spotlight will always be on you. So, when you do well, the media and fans will hype you up. And, when you do badly, things will not take long to go south. The same has happened with Marcus Rashford. He started his United with flying colours. After that, somehow, things didn’t go the way the media started to portray Rashford. He was like the next big thing in football. Also, the coaching at United under Solskjaer was poor.
Also, his form dropped after his injury. But, Rashford showed what he could do last season when he was in form. So, Marcus is not overrated. However, he needs to improve his game a lot if he wants to be compared with the likes of Mbappe and Haaland.
