Everton have not got off to winning ways in the Premier League, losing to Fulham in the opening weekend. In fairness to Sean Dyche’s side, they actually played quite well but could not find a finishing touch. The club is still in the market for multiple forwards, and as The Top Flight has previously covered, one of those players is Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto. The Italian winger is refusing to play for Leeds as he forces a move away. Leeds fans have made their frustration with the player known.

Wilfried Gnonto submits a transfer request amid Everton’s second bid

The Athletic is reporting that Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto has now made a written statement that he wants a transfer away from Elland Road. It is being reported that Leeds are stating the player is not for sale despite the transfer request. Everton are expected to come back with another bid for the winger after having seen their first bid of around £25m rejected.

With Gnonto training on his own and no longer around the squad, it seems as though the end result will ultimately be a transfer away from Leeds, and likely to Everton. Gnonto had six goal contributions in the Premier League last season after joining Leeds United from Swiss side FC Zurich in the summer of 2022. The forward is of Ivorian descent but represents Italy at the international level, having made his senior debut last season.

Gnonto has the ability to play anywhere across the front three, often acting as a second striker behind the centre-forward. Far and away, his biggest strengths are his speed and dribbling, which allows him to carry the ball high into the opposition’s half. It is hard to say what Leeds would deem a reasonable offer for the youngster, given they have made it clear they are not selling him.
