There is usually the award of “The Best Transfer Window Award” declared by pundits and fans alike but there has to be a case for Newcastle United having won the award. With important signings Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento and Yankuba Minteh all added to a squad who are fully together.

The latest player to be moving to St. James’ Park is an impressive full-back and it is a big surprise that his current club are letting him go after a string of solid performances in the Premier League during his debut season.

Chelsea youngster to swap London for Tyneside

Chelsea are very good at producing young youth talents and giving them an opportunity. One of those players is 18-year-old left-back Lewis Hall, who came through the ranks at Chelsea as well as England, who made nine appearances last year in a troubled year for the club.

However, despite being given the chance to impress under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, the club have decided to cash in on the versatile youngster and sell him to Newcastle United.

What is the nature of the deal?

Although Hall will not be joining on a permanent transfer immediately, he will be joining the club on loan with a deal next summer expected to be that of £28 million plus £7 million in add-ons.

It is understandable why Chelsea have accepted the offer but it could be a talent that has slipped through the nets at Stamford Bridge.

Yet they have included a sell-on clause should the English full-back move away from Newcastle in the future.

What would Hall bring to Newcastle United?

Hall is very well thought of amongst the Newcastle hierarchy already and manager Eddie Howe has expressed how much he likes him and looks forward to helping his potential.

One thing Hall does possess is the ability to play in several positions. With left back being his natural position, and an attacking one at that, he can also operate in central midfield as a box-to-box player and he can play out of the wing.

Having won the Academy Player of the Year last season with Chelsea, Newcastle are getting a real talent and one that could help them push forward in years to come to win the trophy they so desperately desire.
