Chelsea have already added plenty of funds this summer to offset this spending last summer. Now Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be adding even more money indirectly from another Premier League transfer. As The Top Flight reported earlier this summer, Newcastle United were interested in signing Southampton’s Tino Livramento. The Toons felt they could sign Livramento for around £15M, but after about a month of negotiations, the fullback will be joining Newcastle at a much higher price.

The Athletic report that Newcastle has signed Tino Livramento in a deal worth a total of £40m. Multiple reports suggest the details of the deal consist of a £35m fixed fee with add-ons. Livramento will most likely back up Kieran Trippier for the time being, with the signing viewed as one for the future. Tino went over a year without playing football after suffering an ACL injury against Brighton near the end of the 21/22 season with Southampton. He played just two matches last season, which saw Southampton relegated from the Premier League.

Chelsea to make bank on Tino Livramento

Livramento joined Southampton from Chelsea’s academy two summers ago, which saw Chelsea get a £4m fixed fee and a significant sell-on percentage. The way the percentage was conducted was that the higher the fee Southampton received, the percentage Chelsea would get increased. It is believed that Chelsea will net somewhere around £17m if The Atheltic‘s understanding of the sell-on percentage is correct. All of that money may not be upfront, but that would be the total package potentially.

The money could go a long way to securing the signing of Moises Caicedo, as funds the club wasn’t expecting have now become available. For Newcastle, the transfer of Tino Livramento will float somewhere in their sixth most expensive deal, but it’ll depend on what add-ons are met.
