In what was always going to be a dramatic match, no matter the scoreline, Liverpool and Chelsea ultimately drew each other on August 13th. Luis Diaz scored the lone goal for Liverpool, while newcomer Axel Disasi scored his first for Chelsea. Much of the talk heading into this fixture was not about the game itself but about the off-field battle between Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. After a bit of back and forth, as The Top Flight has covered, Chelsea looks to be the favourites to land both players, with Moises Caicedo almost certainly making the move to Stamford Bridge.

After the match, when Jurgen Klopp was speaking to the press, he let his feelings be known about the ordeal but in a fairly indirect way. While he had no comment on Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia, he did respond to being asked about Pochettino wanting more players.

Safe to say Jurgen Klopp is a little disgruntled being asked the question, which in fairness to him, isn’t something he should be asked. Perhaps the comment is throwing a little shade at Fenway Sports Group as well, who Klopp has often made little digs about in terms of lack of incomings. Money-wise, Jurgen Klopp was backed this window, though, and the club is not done yet. Klopp was also asked about singing a number six.

Liverpool management will have to get a move on in their pursuit of signing a number six. Assuming they don’t sign Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia, the club will be back at square one, given talks aren’t advanced with anyone else. As The Top Flight recently reported, PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare is shortlisted by Liverpool, but it is yet to be seen if they will step up their interest soon.
