Chelsea eyeing up USMNT star midfielder as Moises Caicedo alternative

The revolving door at Stamford Bridge is expected to continue, and with talks of a few new signings, one of them could really bolster their midfield position. With the loss of Mateo Kovačić and N’Golo Kante this summer, the Blues need to replace them if they are to get themselves back in with a shout of European football next season. With the American connection with the owner Todd Boehly in full swing here, it looks like Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams could join Chelsea just one year on from his move to Elland Road.

Could Tyler Adams move to Stamford Bridge?

Tyler Adams, alongside Weston McKennie, did have a good season in the heart of the midfield, but it was not enough to keep Leeds in the Premier League, and they suffered relegation, even with the recruitment of Big Sam Allardyce!

However, Adams is a commodity that is better than the Championship, having represented the USNMT in Qatar and wearing the armband with pride.

Having moved to Leeds for £20 million, they will be hoping they can recoup some if not all of the transfer fee, but they could be held to ransom with the star not wanting to play in a division below the top flight, something he has not done since his New York Red Bulls II days.

What would he bring to the side?

Having sold Christian Pulisic, it would be a great move for Adams to establish himself in the Chelsea team and show that American stars can play in the top flight with the top teams.

Adams is a player who is combative and not shy to put himself about. He will put in a tackle to win the ball back and really get stuck in for his side, something Chelsea missed last year!

He is not just a tough tackler but someone who can keep hold of the ball with confidence and keep the play moving by dictating the play in the centre of the park. He is a great all-round midfield that Chelsea could move for alongside/instead of their main target Moises Caicedo.
