Manchester United is once again in a critical transfer window and hoping that certain players will leave the club very soon to allow more transfers to come into Old Trafford, in particular another striker, as the club looks pretty thin on the ground through the middle.

However, it is in midfield that they look like they will lighten the load, especially with the latest link being Morrocan man Sofyan Amrabat.

Manchester United youth product to depart

Scottish international Scott McTominay looks like he is facing the chop despite being with the club since 2002. The versatile player was first introduced to the side under Jose Mourinho, who was a huge supporter of his, as United continued their tradition of bringing through their youth products.

Since his debut, he was a key player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and showed real passion when pulling on the shirt for the Red Devils. However, under Erik ten Hag, he has found his time limited through injury and not being selected.

It is believed that McTominay is in the plans for ten Hag, but transfer interest could change all of that.

Why has United felt the need to put a valuation on McTominay?

With transfer speculation growing around the robust midfielder, United have felt the need to put their valuation on him whether to deter potential buyers or show that they can actually sell this transfer window after failing to gain a big deal for Alex Telles; despite selling him to Saudi Arabia!

The main team to be sniffing around McTominay is West Ham United, managed by former United manager David Moyes who will have seen McTominay in the youth set up, even in his short tenure.

With a double deal being speculated for Harry Maguire and McTominay, United have decided to value their 26-year-old midfielder at £40 million. Some feel the value is quite high, but it is a fair valuation for an international with plenty to offer in a Champions League side.

West Ham feels the valuation is too high for what they want and are expected to turn their attention to Conor Gallagher. However, they will not end their ongoing pursuit of McTominay if United lower their valuation.
