Manchester United plan to sell 5 players this summer

As part of Manchester United’s big summer rebuild, Erik ten Hag has revealed the players he wishes to sell in order to balance the books. The players sold includes four defenders and one midfielder. According to The Mirror, the players which Erik ten Hag will sell are as follows:

Harry Maguire

This one is both surprising and not surprising at the same time. It’s surprising given the fact that Maguire is the club captain. However, it’s not susprising given how poor he plays and how much he costs United on a routine basis.

I guess, the most surprising thing is actually that Maguire was made club captain in the first place.

Alex Telles

Anyone else forget this guy was a United player?

It’s understandable that Erik ten Hag wishes to sell Alex Telles this summer. Having spent the last season on loan at Sevilla, the Brazilian full-back has no place in Ten Hag’s future plans. If anything, this is a wise decision as it could raise some valuable funds.

Brandon Williams

Again, this one is not a surprise either. Brandom Williams is entering the final year of his Manchester United contract and he is realistically not going to play. Therefore, a wise choice from Ten Hag to make some money out of the 22-year-old while his value is still there.

Eric Bailly

Bailly had his day as a United player. He was once a first team starter but consistent injuries pushed him further down the pecking order. Now, he will be sold to make room for a new centre back.

Scott McTominay

Finally, finishing with a midfielder. This one does surprise me a little bit, particularly when you consider Fred will not be a United player either. Still, Mason Mount has been signed and it means that McTominay will play virtually no football, unless as a sub or in cup competitions. Time to move the Scotsman on.

Do you think Manchester United are right to sell these players?
