Arsenal have been very proactive in the transfer window, which is being noted from teams across Europe. There are some top teams who must recuperate some money, so are considering the sales of their assets. With Mikel Arteta being a big spender, he has been offered an opportunity to sign one of the world’s top young talents.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Mikel Arteta has been personally offered the chance to sign Xavi Simons from PSV. Paul Brown told GMS that Arsenal do have an interest in signing Simons, but have not yet followed it up. This is likely because they are aware of the clause which allows PSG to buy Simons back for only €6m.
PSV manager Peter Bosz: “I spoke to Xavi Simons — it was a good, positive conversation. But at the end, he will decide by himself”. ✨🇳🇱

PSG want to trigger €6m buy back clause.
There are many clubs keen on signing Xavi.

Arsenal don’t need to sign Xavi Simons
Arsenal probably won’t follow up on this offering. While Simons is a great player, as demonstrated when he played Arsenal last season and dominated the entire match, he doesn’t fit in at the Emirates Stadium.
Simons is an attacking midfielder, which is a position that’s not exactly sparse at Arsenal. With Kai Havertz joining, Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira also play in this position. Therefore, this leaves Simon as at most second in the pecking order behind Odegaard. Unless he is planning to switch positions, Simons is not likely to get as much game time as he could elsewhere.
It’s a shame, of course. Simons is one of the best wonderkids in world football and will certainly be one of the best players in the world one day. However, there are many layers to this story which indicate to me that even if PSG stupidly decide not to trigger the buy-back clause, the Gunners don’t need him.
Do you think Arsenal should pursue Xavi Simons?
