Enzo Le Fée: Ange Postecoglou’s Midfield Star?

A major problem for Tottenham to address, especially with Postecoglou implementing his 4-3-3 system is to have capable ball carriers from defence to attack. Along with their pursuit of James Maddison, another player that Spurs should take a look at is FC Lorient’s Enzo Le Fée.

The Lorient academy graduate has created ripples across the continent with his performances, contributing 11 goals in 36 games to lead his hometown club to 10th in Ligue 1 this season.

A complete midfield package, Le Fée is best utilized as a #10 with his mix of outstanding attacking output and defensive awareness allowing him to dictate play from midfield. His pace, dribbling ability and attacking mindset sit perfectly into Ange Postecoglou’s midfield puzzle at Tottenham.

Along with his goal contributions, Le Fée put up outstanding numbers for Les Merlus this season with,

  • 6.48 progressive passes per 90
  • 3.57 shot-creating actions per 90 – Higher than Harry Kane (3.46)
  • 2.85 progressive carries per 90 – 90th percentile among midfielders in Europe
  • >2 successful take-ons per 90 – 96th percentile among midfielders in Europe
  • 4.2 tackles+interceptions per 90 – More than any other Spurs midfielder and twice that of Maddison

At 23, Le Fée is a very exciting prospect and still has many more levels to reach. What’s better? The Frenchman has only one year left in his current deal with a market value of €15 million. The sight of Le Fée and Maddison driving the ball from midfield into the opponent’s defensive third and also pressing high up to retrieve possession with support behind from a pivot player like Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr or even Eric Dier would surely be exciting for Spurs’ fans and Ange Postecoglou.
