When news broke yesterday that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in signing Martin Odegaard, Arsenal fans were somewhat unfazed. They know how much their captain loves this club and it would take some doing to convince him to move from his new home. However, they might be a little more worried by recent news which has broken today.

According to the latest transfer summary from talkSPORT, negotiations are at risk of breaking down between Arsenal and William Saliba. The club would like to reward Saliba’s great contribution this season by tying him down to a new contract, but they are surprised by his epic wage demands. With that being said, Paris Saint-Germain are eying a cut price deal for Saliba.

It’s no surprise, either. PSG will know all about the fine work which Saliba puts in both on and off the ball. Given his loan spell in France last season and his work with the national team, he is regarded as the next best defender in France. Therefore, it’s no surprise to see the capital eyeing a cur-price deal to secure him.

Saliba has proven to be a crucial player to Arsenal so they should do everything in their power to keep him. With Saliba at the heart of defence, things just flow nicer for Arsenal. When he picked up an injury in the Europa League towards the end of this season, this is what sparked the club’s downfall since there is nobody who can replace him alongside Gabriel.

Mikel Arteta and Saliba have a great relationship. The Spanish boss has spoken a lot recently about rebuilding for next season, but keeping his current best players is the first priority. Since he’s given the board every reason to trust his process, he will encourage them to meet Saliba’s demands at any cost.

Do you think Arsenal will keep William Saliba?
