Chelsea are not in a good position right now. Although, they hope that things will change for the better next season under Mauricio Pochettino. They have been without a permanent manager since Graham Potter was sacked, with legend Lampard coming in as interim manager, with no success whatsoever.

Some people claim that Potter wasn’t given enough time at Chelsea. I beg to differ. The two parties just didn’t match. Chelsea are a great club, Graham Potter is a great manager – the two together, though, just didn’t match up. I’m certain that wherever Potter ends up next, he will prove once more to be the great manager he always has been.

Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter in talks with Crystal Palace

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Potter is currently in talks with Crystal Palace about managing there. Roy Hodgson is currently at the helm, but he was only brought in as a temporary manager to steer them away from relegation which he achieved excellently.

It’s thought that Palace wants to take the next step and stop achieving mid-table mediocrity. With a club like theirs, boasting some of the best players in the Premier League, they really should be fighting for a top half finish at least.

Graham Potter is excellent at working with young players. Crystal Palace is home to some exceptional young players including Marc Guehi, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze. All of these players would benefit from a younger manager with a fresh direction for them.

For Graham Potter, it would be beneficial to manage in the Premier League again. It is without a doubt the best league in the world and one that he knows well. Therefore, he’ll be eager to return to London with a point to prove to the Chelsea board.
