Manchester United played the final game of their Premier League season yesterday, continuing their monumental home record. In true Erik ten Hag fashion, his side forged a comeback against Fulham to round off what has been an impressive season on their behalf.
Although, if anything, this match proved to be a sign of better things to come. With the legend Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford crowd, he was pictured smiling and impressed at Erik ten Hag’s closing speech. If anyone is able to pick out a world class manager, it’s the legend Fergie himself.
A few additions is what’s thought to be needed at Manchester United. They need to sign a centre back, a midfielder and striker as positions of priority before they can focus elsewhere. One of their transfer priorities is to sign Mason Mount, the boyhood Chelsea player who seeks a move away from toxic Stamford Bridge this summer.
Erik ten Hag will offload Fred to fund Manchester United’s Mason Mount pursuit
Although, with Chelsea holding firm on their £55m valuation of the Englishman, this could persuade Erik ten Hag and co to either push for stricter negotiations or plan another route. Luckily for them, they have a wildcard.
According to Metro, Erik ten Hag is prepare to let Fred join Fulham this summer, which would raise some more funds for him to pursue Mason Mount.
Mount would only push Fred further down the pecking order anyway, so this is a move which is beneficial for all parties. Mount wants a move away, Fred struggles for game time, therefore, this is a win-win scenario.
Mason Mount could be what Erik ten Hag needs to transform his midfielder into world-beaters and add an element of flair and creativity.
