Well, that’s that. Yesterday marked the final page of a season to forget for Chelsea. Finishing 12th in the Premier League, Chelsea put themselves in the history books for the wrong reason – having the worst finish from any “big six” club in Premier League history.

Still, next season is one of hope. With Mauricio Pochettino likely to take over, it would take real misfortune for the Blues to do worse than they did this season. Surely the club can only go up from here.

But it’ll take a serious reshuffle. Mauricio Pochettino will inherit a club which has more players than he knows how to handle, so this summer will be about swallowing pride and selling players which just don’t match the philosophy of the club and the new manager.

Chelsea plans to sell FIVE homegrown players

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea plan to sell five of their immense homegrown players this summer. The players which the club plans to sell are as follows:

Mason Mount

This one should be fairly obvious. He hasn’t exactly made it a secret that he wants a move away this summer, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all monitoring his situation.

Conor Gallagher

Gallagher has a lot of potential but he isn’t living up to it for Chelsea. He hasn’t done anything to convince the club he matches their aspirations, so he will be sold.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, he cannot call this his home. Unfortunately, he doesn’t fit in with Pochettino’s plans either, so a move away is imminent.

Trevoh Chalobah

Despite playing 17 appearances this season, Chalobah is subject to interest from other clubs. This is a move which the club must approve, given their efforts to cap the current wage bill by selling players.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Like Mount, he wants a move away and with AC Milan eager to take him on board, I can’t blame the Englishman for romanticising the move.
