Liverpool Transfer News – Joel Matip’s 7-year stay at Liverpool may be coming to an end

According to GOAL’s Neil Jones, Joel Matip could be sold this summer. Nat Phillips is also another name expected to be put on the transfer list. Kostas Tsimikas, Fabio Carvalho, and Caoimhin Kelleher have interest from other clubs but are not currently expected to leave the club. As reported by The Top Flight, Liverpool has already announced the departures of some long-time players. Joel Matip is a Liverpool veteran himself, having joined the club in 2016 from Schalke.

Liverpool Transfer News – Current West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd is admired by the club

In the same story, Neil Jones states that Liverpool like Nayef Aguerd and he could be an option as a defensive reinforcement. The club has already been linked to Jurrien Timber, Levi Colwill, and Marc Guehi. Aguerd has spent just a single season with West Ham and has helped the club reach the Europa Conference League final. The Moroccan international dealt with an injury earlier in the season but has been a regular starter since his return. Aguerd’s current contract still runs until 2027 so it would likely take a hefty fee for West Ham to let the defender leave.

Liverpool Transfer News – Club linked to Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven

Mark Douglas of iNews has indicated that Liverpool is a keen observer of Micky van de Ven. With Jorg Schmadtke set to become the short-term sporting director of Liverpool, the link makes a lot of sense. Schmadtke was responsible for bringing van de Ven to Wolfsburg from Dutch side FC Volendam.

After adjusting to the Bundesliga and dealing with injuries last season, van de Ven has become an important player for Wolfsburg this campaign. Van de Ven is a left-sided centre-back but he can also play as a left-back. Impressively, van de Ven has gone the full 90′ for Wolfsburg in all but one Bundesliga match this season. Likely, he will not be the last Bundesliga player linked to Liverpool, given the Scmadtke connection.
