Liverpool Transfer News – Former Liverpool player John Barnes hails Jurrien Timber as a “fantastic option” to linkup with Virgil Van Dijk

In an interview with soccernews, John Barnes believes that Ajax centre-back Jurrien Timber would be a good asset to Liverpool. Furthermore, Barnes says Timber could replace Van Dijk in the long term as Van Dijk is now over 30. He thinks Timber would be a ‘fantastic option’ when looking towards the future if he were to join Liverpool.

This speculation comes after former Dutch footballer and now pundit Andy van der Meije said this about Jurrien Timber’s future:

"“Álvarez will leave for forty million, Kudus for thirty million and Timber will probably go to Liverpool. They also pay crazy money. Then you can start building again.” (Source)."

Timber, like Virgil Van Dijk, is a right-footed centre-back who typically plays as a left-sided CB. The 21-year-old’s current contract runs until 2025.
