While it’s certainly not been a bad season for Arsenal (in fact, quite the opposite), they will have their regrets. They were within touching distance of winning the Premier League but it now seems like it’s out of their hands.

The reason for their downfall towards the end of the season is not that Manchester City are too good, it’s not that they’ve suffered too many injuries and it’s not that they were only aiming for top four anyway. The reason for their downfall is because the confidence was not high enough to deal with setbacks.

Granted, there have been some injury issues this season. Namely the injuries to William Saliba and Gabriel Jesus are what cost Arsenal the most – although, there were also some smaller injuries to the likes of Thomas Partey and Oleksandr Zinchenko which didn’t help.

Currently, it’s Saliba, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny who are sidelined until the end of the season but it’s thought that another key player has joined them.

Arsenal injury news – Gabriel Martinelli out until the end of the season

After hobbling off against Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend, fans were too engrossed in the game which ultimately saw them capitulate towards the end to even worry about Gabriel Martinelli.

In truth, the injury didn’t look too bad at first sight and it looked to be only precautionary until the next fixture. According to The Athletic (via the Mirror), the full extent of Gabriel Martinelli’s injury has been revealed and it doesn’t look like he’ll feature in Arsenal’s final two matches.
