Chelsea come up against Arsenal away from home in the Premier League. Having lost the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge, the Blues’ chances of winning are slashed significantly in this one. Although, when it comes to London derbies at this point in the season, form is thrown out of the window.

Both sides enter this fixture in bad form by their standards. Mikel Arteta has just one league win in his last five games, while Frank Lampard is yet to win a game since taking over as interim manager at Stamford Bridge. With that being said, both sides are desperate for a win for differing reasons.

Chelsea handed a significant boost ahead of Arsenal clash

Frank Lampard will undoubtedly want to field his strongest possible team for this match, which is only possible if all players are fit and free from suspension. While the Blues do have injury concerns of their own with Reece James and Mason Mount out, they’ve been handed a key boost.

According to Frank Lampard, his side’s top goal scorer Kai Havertz is in contention to start in this match, although he hasn’t made it clear which striker he’ll start. He has the choice between Havertz, Aubameyang and Fofana, so there are certainly options.

Whoever starts up front for Chelsea will have an easier time than they did in the reverse fixture. Arsenal have a weakened defence, with both William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu missing in action. This means that Rob Holding is most likely to start at centre back and he had a shocking display against Man City.
