Hilarious Chelsea stat involving Mykhailo Mudryk epitomises awful season
By Kian Long
Chelsea have been the laughing stock of the season so far. It’s got to a point where even their most die hard fans can’t help but laugh at the turmoil their beloved club is facing under Todd Boehly. The American businessman is an incredibly intelligent man but doesn’t know the first thing about how to operate a football club.
Loss after loss, it doesn’t look like Chelsea will have a strong end to their season. They have no hope of finishing in the top four, so they’re hopeful they can achieve a miracle in the Champions League. They need to overturn a two-goal deficit against the best team in the world Real Madrid.
However, I was doing some digging as I wanted to raise some positivity about Chelsea. I couldn’t name from the top of my head which player was doing well and after looking at some statistics, it was revealed to me why I couldn’t name any – there are no good Chelsea players this season.
Perhaps the most comical “positive” statistic this season is that no Chelsea player has contributed to more assists than Mykhailo Mudryk, despite signing in January. The €100m man who arrived from Shakhtar with a lot of hype surrounding his name has contributed to an astonishing two assists, which isn’t bettered by any Chelsea player.
To put this into perspective, Leandro Trossard provided three assists in just 45 minutes of football. He was Arsenal’s backup option to Mudryk.
I was in favour of Mudryk at the time he was linked with Arsenal. I hold my hands up, I really wanted him to sign. This is because I, like Boehly, believed the hype which Shakhtar has masterfully created. But now, I’m glad Arsenal dodged a bullet and signed Trossard instead as he is 20 times better.
What do you make of Mykhailo Mudryk’s season so far?
