Arsenal fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief as they are set to have depth in wide positions.

Arsenal have been absolutely phenomenal this season, sitting top of the league during the World Cup break. It is hard to pick a fault in their play but if you are to be extremely picky, which is my job, then you would have to look at their depth in attack. Particularly in the winger positions – where they only really have three players to fill the role, Martinelli, Saka and Nelson.

And don’t get me wrong – those three have had good seasons, with the former two players starting week in week out and Nelson playing well when called upon. However, one injury is all it takes for all to go wrong. This is why Arsenal’s primary target in the January transfer window all seem to be wingers.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal are set to win the race for in-demand Shakhtar Donetsk forward Mykhailo Mudryk. The Ukrainian forward has been a sensation this season, both in the Ukraine top flight and in the Champions League.

Mudryk is set to cost the Gunners around £40m plus add ons but the 21-year-old is worth every penny – even if used from the bench.

Mudrk is a fast winger who looks exceptional with the ball at his feet. Like Martinelli, he can always be found dribbling as he oozes confidence. He is great in tight situations too, and is the type of winger who can cut inside.

As Arsenal look likely to play in the Champions League next season, they need players with experience on this stage to step in, and it is a bonus when they are young prodigies as this is Arteta’s trdemark at the moment.
