Manchester United will continue to rebuild their squad, and look to have their eyes set on a new midfielder.

Donny van de Beek was all the hype when he made his move from famed club Ajax in the Netherlands to Manchester United. At the time, van de Beek was just 23 years old, playing a key role in Ajax reaching the Champions League semi-finals in 2019 where they ended up falling short to Spurs.

Now, just 3 years later, his time at United looks like it is coming to an end, with Manchester United looking to bring in RB Salzburg teenager Maurits Kjærgaard. At just 19 years of age,  Kjærgaard is being eyed not only by Manchester United, but by Liverpool, AC Milan, and other top clubs, claims Fabrizio Romano.

He has already been capped numerous times for Denmark’s U-21 side over the last few years and is drawing attention as he continues to improve in the Austrian Bundesliga. Making his senior debut for the Austrian side back in 2020/21, he’s bagged himself 6 goals and 13 assists in 59 matches. These aren’t exactly mouth-watering numbers, but with a value ranging from £13m-£25m (depending on the source), this will certainly be a player for the future for Manchester United, or any other club that signs him this summer or beyond.

Erik ten Hag and United have sent scouts to watch Kjærgaard play for the Denmark U-21 team and seem intent on making the Danish midfielder part of United’s ongoing rebuild. Having already ended Manchester United’s trophy drought, winning the Carabao Cup back in February, there is no doubt ten Hag will want to keep the momentum he has built with the Red Devils and make a legitimate title charge next season. In order to do that, there will have to be both departures – such as van de Beek, Sabitzer, and possibly even Harry Maguire leaving the club- as well as arrivals.

In addition to Kjærgaard coming in, there are also talks of Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse being of interest to the red side of Manchester.

What players do you think Manchester United should be looking at bringing into the squad during the summer window?
