Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally attains his first summer signing.
Manchester United officially announce the signing of Donny van de Beek from AFC Ajax. The deal is worth €39million, including €5million in bonuses. It is understood that the Red Devils have beaten Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain to sign the Dutch midfielder.
Donny van de Beek has emerged as one of the brightest midfield prospects in Europe. Owing to his excellent work-rate and versatility, the 23-year-old formed an integral part of the Ajax side which caused major shockwaves in last year’s Champions League. After Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong moved on last summer, a move for Van de Beek failed to materialise.
Hope you’re well.
Just announcing @Donny_Beek6.

Manchester United is delighted to confirm the arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax. The Dutch midfielder has signed a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year.
Donny van de Beek said:“I cannot begin to explain how incredible an opportunity it is to join a club with such an amazing history.”
“I am now ready to take the next step in my career and perform at the highest level and there is no higher standard than Manchester United.”- Club’s official statement.
The Netherlands international was poised to secure a move to Real Madrid, with a few final formalities needed before the official announcement. Unfortunately, the financial implications of the pandemic scuppered a switch to the Bernabeu this summer.
Citing an opportunity, Manchester United bosses made rapid moves to sign Donny van de Beek by establishing formal contacts with AFC Ajax counterparts.
It is understood that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer played a big role in convincing Van de Beek to pursue the current Old Trafford project.
A substantial coup for the Manchester United manager to sign Donny van de Beek. The summer business is set to continue with Jadon Sancho being the priority this summer.
