With the Premier League season soon coming to a close, it’s been one to remember for Arsenal but one to forget for Manchester United. The Red Devils entered the title race after the World Cup but were eliminated from the race just a few weeks in.

There are many areas which Erik ten Hag needs to address, but none more so than signing a striker. Marcus Rashford has done a stellar job in this position when called upon and is United’s top goal scorer this season, but it’s not his natural position. Wout Weghorst hasn’t exactly hit the ground running either, despite what United fans try to convince themselves.

One name which United are linked with is Victor Osimhen. The Napoli forward is one of the best in the business, as he’s guided his team with his immense goal scoring ability to top of the Serie A table by some distance, and in the Champions League quarter finals, where they play their first match tonight.

Osimhen’s most recent comments will receive mixed reception from the United faithful. According to The Boot Room, Osimhen wants to follow in the footsteps of former Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by winning the African football player of the year award.

Of course, this does show great determination from the striker. He wants to strive for greatness by winning a prestigious award. However, when you’re linked with United, perhaps the most comical thing you could say is that you want to follow in the footsteps of an Arsenal legend, who now hesitantly plays for Chelsea.

These comments certainly won’t deter Manchester United, but they are rather comical from a fan’s perspective. It does show Osimhen’s immense tenacity and desire to achieve greatness, too.

Do you think Manchester United will sign Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window?
