Chelsea owner Todd Boehly charmed by club legend amid manager hunt

Chelsea took on Liverpool in the Premier League last night. It was disappointing for the Blues, who shared the points with their mid-table rivals at home. Although there was some positivity for Chelsea, who did look the better side and managed to contain Liverpool, they just didn’t do enough in the final third to snatch three points.
Club legend Frank Lampard was in the stands, pictured and videoed many times by the English press as they’re aware of the growing Chelsea search for a new manager after Graham Potter was sacked. Many point to Lampard as a potential successor since he knows the club inside and out.
According to the latest from talkSPORT, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is a big fan of the idea of bringing in Frank Lampard until the end of the season. If he impresses, he could have a permanent contract lined up and if not, then Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have already been in discussions.
The Top Flight reported that Chelsea had 5 interviews lined up and with two of them complete, one of them remained a mystery. Perhaps Lampard was the mystery man all along.
The major pull factor for Boehly is that Lampard would be available to work straight away. Not only that, but he would clearly manage with passion as he stayed until the final whistle yesterday. That might seem bare minimum, but the fact he even stayed awake during that snooze-fest is impressive in itself.
Lampard is already embedded into the club culture. In fact, you could argue he was a pioneer in crafting that culture. Lampard has had experience in management but it’s not gone too well. Both with Everton and Derby County, he was mediocre at best. Perhaps the passion of representing the club he loves could be what spurs him on for success.
Could you see Frank Lampard as next Chelsea manager?
