It’s a race against time for some players in their bid to recover from international break. Arsenal come up against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon. The Gunners are in fine form, currently sitting 8 points clear at the top of the Premier League table. However, they’ll want to continue their winning ways in this fixture which is never easy.

Mikel Arteta must field a strong lineup but he’ll hope that players come back from international duty fit and ready to go again at the weekend. One player who is of significant concern is Thomas Partey, who flies back to London today, where Arsenal will be able to assess his medical situation.

However, according to Goal, a source close to Partey has revealed that it’s not a hamstring issue and he should be fine to play by the weekend.

This is a huge boos to Arsenal, as Partey has been their most important player this season. While Jorginho does a good job at filling in for the Ghana international, his absence rings loud when he’s not available. Just look at the recent loss against Manchester City, where it was revealed just hours before the match that Partey would be unavailable – the game finished Arsenal 1-3 Man City.

If Partey is fit, he starts. That’s a given. The Gunners see their final 10 games this season as their final 10 cup finals. They’ll approach every match as if it’ll be their last, until hopefully, they’ll lift the Premier League title with sheer pride.

Leeds sit 14th in the table and have won just 2 in their last 5. Arsenal are top of the table, and have won 5 out of their last 5. On paper, then, the home side have the advantage but we know to never look at form as an indicator in the Premier League.

Do you think Thomas Partey will start vs Leeds United?
