Category 1: They will play in the Premier League next season

Team(s): Burnley

Not only will Burnley play in the Premier League next season, but they will also be league winners of the EFL Championship barring a horrid run of form to conclude the season.

Burnley was relegated from the Premier League last season and made a big hire last summer bringing in Manchester City legend Vicent Kompany to become manager of the club. The club has also massively overhauled its squad in the last two transfer windows, bringing in a total of 21 players both on permanent and loan deals.

Anass Zaroury, Nathan Tella, Manuel Benson, and Michael Obafemi highlight some of the key forward signings Burnley has made. Tella, who is on loan from Premier League club Southampton, leads the team in goals this season, with 19 in all competitions.

Burnley’s defence should not go unnoticed either. In the summer the club loaned in Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City and Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. Additionally, the club also signed goalkeeper Arijanet Muric from Manchester City on a permanent deal. All three have been instrumental in Burnley having the lowest goals against in the EFL Championship this season.

Burnley most recently won promotion to the Premier League in 2016 when they won the EFL Championship.

Burnley will be one to watch next season in the Premier League for many good reasons but also because the club was just placed under a transfer embargo. It will be an interesting story to watch as it would be reasonable to assume this summer the club will want to make key signings to keep them up next season.
