Pep Guardiola foolishly ignores Arsenal as he names best English team

I don’t know if it’s mind games, or just plain idiocy, but Pep Guardiola has revealed the team which he thinks is the best in the Premier League – and it’s not Arsenal.

The league leaders played Manchester City last month and were turned over 3-1. This put the Citizens top of the league for the second time this season, but that didn’t last long. Fast forward a couple of weeks and Arsenal are back in the top spot, 5 points clear of City in second.

Both sides play today and neither will want to drop points. However, the pressure is on Manchester City, who face Newcastle United. In the buildup to this game, Pep Guardiola dubbed them as the “best team in the league”.

According to the Metro, Pep has accredited Newcastle’s successes this season to great and efficient recruitment of staff and players. He has also given an honourable mention to Eddie Howe, who has “great quality”.

Whether or not Pep can overcome Howe in today’s match remains to be seen. At the time of writing this, they are a goal up thanks to Phil Foden, however, plenty of the match remains. If City beat Newcastle, they will put the ball back into Arsenal’s court, who will play later.

Regardless of any mind games, one thing’s for sure – this is shaping up to be a memorable title race. I don’t think there’s any denying that the general consensus is that Arsenal are the best team in the league at the moment. It’s not rocket science, top of the league = best in the league.

I’ll put Pep’s comments down to mind games and mind games alone. He knows football more than anyone in the world, so as an Arsenal fan, take these comments as nothing more than psychological tactics.
