“Levels” Arsenal fans mock Spurs to compare Reiss Nelson & Richarlison
By Kian Long
Richarlison is having an absolutely woeful season and not enough people are talking about it. The word “flop” is thrown around way too much I feel, but Richarlison is literally a flop. Put it down to his position being taken, if he was good enough, he’d fight for that position – that’s exactly what Reiss Nelson is doing at Arsenal.
Although the youngster’s season has been plagued by injuries, he’s made the most of every opportunity presented to him. Today, he came off the bench to inspire Arsenal to a stellar comeback against Bournemouth, getting an assist for the equaliser and a stunning goal in the last kick of the match to win it.
As you can imagine, the memes on social media have been astronomical. No matter how small the opportunity to poke fun at Spurs is, Arsenal fans will take it in a heartbeat. The memes have an extra layer of comedy this week, since Spurs lost and really hindered their chance to finish in the top four.
I’m not saying Reiss Nelson is better than Richarlison. That would be nonsensical. However, it is funny to compare the two, especially when Nelson has made just 3 appearances in the Premier League this season.
This redditor was the first to compare the two players. The simple caption of “levels” perfectly describes what the statistic represents. That one word enough will rub salt into the wounds of angry Spurs fans.
573 upvotes at the time of writing this tells you everything you need to know. The Arsenal fans are ecstatic about this win as they see it as the perfect demonstration they have what it takes to win the league title this year.
But the comparisons didn’t stop there. Let’s not forget, there are two other big-money signings who play for rival clubs that are yet to make an impact – Cody Gakpo and Mykhaylo Mudryk. Then again, the latter does only have 9 league goals throughout his entire career – Saka has more this season alone.
I mean, that’s a fair depiction of inflation.
What did you make of Reiss Nelson’s cameo today, Gooners?
