Manchester United undoubtedly will be looking to upgrade the striker position this summer and Tammy Abraham is reportedly admired by Erik Ten Hag

According to Ben Jacobs via Fabrizio Romano’s ‘Caught Offside’ substack, Manchester United have “genuine interest” in Roma’s Tammy Abraham. The English international formerly played for Chelsea before making a move to Italy in 2021. Jacobs also notes that despite Chelsea having a buy-back clause inserted for Abraham, it’s not expected they will activate it, shaking off any fear of that scenario for Manchester United.

The club are not actively seeking to make Abraham their top priority. With that said, The Top Flight has reported Manchester United target Victor Osimhen is subject to interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea. If Manchester United do lose out on the Osimhen sweepstakes, fellow Serie A player Tammy Abraham may very well be next on their list.

Abraham was considered a top talent when breaking through Chelsea’s academy. Abraham had multiple loan moves under his belt when he was at Chelsea, notably a season in the Premier League with Swansea before taking a step down a level to the championship with Aston Villa. Abraham was a crucial player for Villa that season, scoring the game-winner in the first leg of the promotion semi-finals and then scoring the winner in penalties over West Bromwich Albion in the second leg. The club would go on to win the final and be promoted to the Premier League.

Now at age 25, he’s carving his craft in Rome under Jose Mourinho. AS Roma paid £34M for the striker two summers ago. In his first season, Abraham netted 27 goals for the club, including 9 in the new Europa Conference League that Roma ultimately won.

While this season he’s not racked up as much of the goals, Abraham has been an integral part of the club’s push to qualify for Champions League football both through league play and by reaching the Europa League knockout stage.
