Liverpool have been incredibly active as they prepare for the summer transfer window. While it might seem like a lifetime away since they only just got the January window out the way, it’s still important the Reds prepare in plenty of time, to avoid wasting precious time.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are seeking the possibility of signing Bart Verbruggen of Anderlecht. The 20-year-old Dutch goalkeeper is in good form, keeping five clean sheets this season. It’s thought that Alisson is still the first-choice goalkeeper, but with Caoimhin Kelleher set to leave Anfield, Liverpool need back-up.

With signing Verbruggen, Liverpool hope that over time he will become their first-choice shot-stopper. Alisson is one of the best keepers in the world, but he isn’t getting any younger as he is now 30 years old.

It was reported yesterday that Liverpool’s summer plans involved selling one of their best players. This is to generate more money to fund other signings. Alisson is certainly one of their best players and a truly valuable asset.

We know that Jurgen Klopp is not the type of person for luxury signings. A lot of thought goes behind his recruitment strategy, as he would rather sign players to build them up from seemingly nothing. While Verbruggen is in good form and valued highly at Anderlecht, he would meet the criteria for Klopp and be a cheaper option he could develop.

The Reds still have aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League next season. However, if they are to achieve this, they must step up their quality, starting tonight. They face Everton in the Merseyside derby which will be a tough ask but 3 points on the board and a campaign to qualify for Europe could be exactly what convinces Verbruggen to trust Liverpool’s process.
