Brighton and Leandro Trossard seem to have reached a point in their relationship that cannot be repaired

Friday evening, Leandro Trossard’s agent Josy Comhair released a statement on behalf of Trossard that Brighton should help facilitate a move for the Belgian forward.

This statement comes after Leandro Trossard was completely dropped from the squad for the match this weekend against Liverpool after he left training unexpectedly earlier this month. According to Trossard’s agent, the relationship between the player and manager Roberto De Zerbi has fallen apart and they are no longer on speaking terms with each other.

CBS Sports Journalist Ben Jacobs states that Trossard’s agent has offered the player to other Premier League clubs.

Josy Comhair has also stated that before the World Cup Brighton had originally planned to hold talks over a contract extension for the winger but a deal was never agreed to.

Trossard has spent 4 seasons with Brighton having joined the South Coast club in 2019 from Belgian side Genk. Across all competitions, Trossard has 25 goals and 14 assists in 121 matches for Brighton and this season has 10 goal involvements in 16 Premier League matches.

Trossard made his senior debut for Belgium in 2020 in Nations League play and since then has gone on to feature for Belgium in both the Euros (2021) and World Cup in Qatar (2022)

What Premier League clubs make sense?

Arsenal is hot on Mudryk’s tail, although now it looks like Chelsea are favourites. Liverpool signed Gakpo and Manchester United have Rashford, Sancho and Garnacho available on the left – so who could be in for Trossard?

Newcastle United are one of the teams that could afford Trossard and makes sense when looking at their squad. Joelinton and Saint-Maximin are currently the only two left-sided attacking options in Eddie Howe’s side that have played a 4-3-3 formation the entire season. With Saint-Maximin’s injury issues, a reinforcement of Trossard to take some of the load off of Joelinton makes a lot of sense.

Chelsea has multiple injuries to the left side of the field with Christian Pulisic picking up a knock (and generally speaking, becoming an outcast at Chelsea) and Ben Chilwell has been out since October. Graham Potter will be very familiar with Trossard having managed him at Brighton and can play Trossard as an attacking wingback at Chelsea.

It is yet to be seen whether or not Trossard will leave in January but at the very least his agent is aggressively pushing for a move away.
