Arsenal have offered Shakhtar Donetsk a second bid for Mykhailo Mudryk.

It’s no secret that Arsenal want to sign Mykhailo Mudryk – both the club and player have been very vocal about wanting the deal to happen. The Top Flight reported recently that the two parties had agreed personal terms, however, Arsenal still have to negotiate with Shakhtar Donetsk for the right price.

But it seems like no valuation has been agreed upon just yet. According to ESPN, having already had one bid turned down, Arsenal have gone in for a second bid for Mykhailo Mudryk, but it’s still thought to be significantly below Shakhtar’s £88.5m asking price.

I must admit, this is surprising to see. The Gunners have significantly improved their strategies in the transfer window in recent years. And with Mikel Arteta at the helm doing a magnificent job, you’d think the board would back him financially to complete any deal he sees fit.

Mudryk is an exceptional talent. Having showcased his immense ability with 10 goals and 2 assists across all competitions so far this season, he would fit straight into Arsenal’s potent attack.

Since coming back from the World Cup break, all three members of the Gunners front three have scored in both matches. Mudryk will know this fact too since he’s been active on social media showing he watches the North London club play.

Shakhtar’s asking price of £88.5m is a little hefty, I won’t deny this. However, as a Premier League club you have to just accept you pay premium prices from European clubs. After all, it is the wealthiest league in the world and Arsenal’s board isn’t exactly short of cash.

It’ll be interesting to see how these negotiations pan out. Of course, I wouldn’t write off Arsenal as the negotiation stage seems to be in the earlier stages. However, Arsenal mustn’t take the mick too much as Shakhtar Donetsk will eventually grow frustrated and the power is in their hands.
