Arsenal look to continue winning ways into the new year as they host Newcastle United.

Everybody is talking about Arsenal being the shock of the season so far but not enough people are talking about Newcastle United’s heroics. This Tuesday, the two teams in immense form will face off, Arsenal playing at home at the Emirates Stadium.

Here’s how Mikel Arteta should line up to lengthen the gap between himself and Eddie Howe at Newcastle.

Arsenal predicted lineup – Goalkeeper and Defence

In between the sticks, Aaron Ramsdale will work hard to keep a clean sheet after the frustration of conceding two at Brighton.

Ben White will retain his place at right-back, out of position he is in exceptional form, so there is no reason to make any changes. Gabriel and William Saliba will be the pairing of choice in the middle of he defence, with the latter not being himself after the World Cup but he will find form again. Oleksandr Zinchenko will play at left-back after being rested for the final thirty against Brighton.

Midfield

Thomas Partey played well against Brighton, so he will get the nod to hold the line against Newcastle. He will be partnered by Granit Xhaka, who was pinned back more than he would have liked and should expect a similar role against Newcastle. Martin Odegaard will be the creative outlet with more freedom. After his goal and exceptional assist against Brighton, the captain will hope for more of the same in this match.

Attack

The attack will be unchanged in this match. Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli have all scored in the last two matches and they’re showing no signs of missing Jesus through injury. Mikel Arteta will opt for this strong front three again.
