Arsenal add one of the best World Cup players to their transfer shortlist

The World Cup final was one of the best games I’ve ever seen but one player stood out to the Arsenal recruitment team.
Argentina played with plenty of inspiration in this year’s World Cup. Despite the early slip up to Saudi Arabia, Lionel Messi and his countrymen fought on and inspired the world. Arsenal were eagerly watching on with the hopes that William Saliba would bring the trophy home, but he didn’t feature.
According to AS, World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister is now being monitored by Arsenal as a potential signing but they will face competition from Atletico Madrid.
It would certainly be a transfer that would raise plenty of eyebrows but it does make sense. The Gunners have an incredible midfield pairing of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey, who have performed expertly together this season but if one of them is injured, who comes in to replace them – Elneny? Not good enough.
I grow tired of the narrative involving Arsenal’s depth compared to Manchester City’s but it is true. If the Gunners wish to compete in the second half of the season, they need some January reinforcements.
- The 3 most likely signings Mikel Arteta will make in January
- Bukayo Saka will soon be offered a new contract
Mac Allister would be a sensible signing as he is full of confidence at the moment and he won’t need any time to adjust to the Premier League as he regularly performs well for Brighton. It just comes down to whether or not Brighton would be willing to sell and of course, if Mac Allister would be willing to leave.
The Gunners can expect a busy January transfer window as this is the first time in a long while they have looked like title contenders but as addressed earlier, money needs to be spent to secure this.
Do you think Arsenal will push to sign Alexis Mac Allister?
